Stephanie Moro, RN, BSN,
MA Psychology, |
Interfaith Chaplain and Holistic Nurse, Maureen Christopher has been
practicing Guided Imagery; variously called Visualization, the Power
of Positive Thinking, or Spiritual Mind Treatment, for almost 50 years.
She has used this in pain control, healing, manifesting prosperity,
getting pregnant, and creating new circumstances in life for clients
in hospice, counseling, and for church members. |
Healing Touch given by Carla Wales RN, CHTP (Certified
Healing Touch Practitioner) Carla Wales has been a Registered Nurse for over 40 years. Based on her first hand experiences, seeing how pain was relieved and newborns were calmed, she studied to become a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner. She began her amazing journey into Healing Touch (HT) 13 years ago and was certified in 1999. Carla is a member of HT International, Inc., a member of American Holistic Nurses Association and the Ventura County Network of AHNA. Carla continues to study holistic health practices, attending conferences and classes in the filed. Her focus is on health, wellness and balance; she is dedicated to empowering her clients to self-heal. Curing is when the physical body is measurably improved, but healing
is a process of becoming whole. The HT practitioner facilitates the
healing process of body, mind, emotions and spirit, by balancing the
energy centers and smoothing the layers of the energy field. Congested
energy is released and disturbances are cleared. The techniques are
non-invasive involving gentle touch, with some work performed away
from the body, in the energy field, with smooth flowing movements of
the hands. |
Virginia DeGrazia-Sanders ( or Ginny) RN,OCN, BA, HTA Offering balancing and restoration through Healing Touch I have been an RN for 25 years, and became interested in Holistic Health by learning from my cancer patients who often use complementary forms of healing. I was bored with " regular" Nursing courses. Tried a Healing Touch class and was AMAZED. (puzzled, skeptical, but amazed). Continued with classes in Healing Touch for the last 6 years, and am now in my Apprenticeship. Am offering Healing Touch to my patients, coworkers and friends. Am currently writing a proposal to volunteer Healing Touch sessions 2 times a month at work, to expand and integrate some complementary care on our oncology unit for both staff, visitors and patients. I have a passion to more fully integrate complementary care into the standard medical model. |

Pet Therapy
Pets can reduce loneliness and strengthen social interaction skills in people. It has been shown that the presence of a pet can decrease depression and social avoidance among people with psychological, physical and emotional disorders. It promotes improvement in a person’s physical, social, emotional or cognitive function. JJ, a yellow lab, and his mistress, Ellen Makenna, provide animal-assisted activities, or informal opportunities for pet companionship, at assisted living communities and board and care homes for the elderly. This is a volunteer service by both JJ and Ellen. JJ and Ellen will be available during Day 2 to provide love on a leash.
